Goodbye Emma

As you may have noticed by the lack of content I have been on hiatus for the last couple of months. My beloved partner of 22 years, Emma passed away unexpectedly at the beginning of March and I have been unable to find motivation to write since.

I hope that the announcements at Microsoft Build later this month will spark my creativity and enthusiasm again. Till then here is one of my favourite poems written by Emma, who wrote and performed poetry at many venues in our home city.

Prelude To A Dream

(Insomnia: Midnight)

By Emma Pandolfi (1980 - 2022)

Oh, deep exquisite embrace of sleep,
I invite you to take me.
Take me away,
slow but sure
to the land of Nod.
In the land of dreams.

Morpheus, dear Morpheus
Gothic prince of the night.
As delight fades to delirium
and dreams are my destiny.
So take me now and
keep me safe
in your land of dreams
tonight.

Oh, deep exquisite embrace of sleep,
I implore you to take me.
Carry me gently
but carry me swift
through the land of Nod.
In the land of dreams.

Morpheus, dear Morpheus
endless giver of dreams.
Give unto me,
I beg of you.
The sleep of the just
tonight.

Oh, deep exquisite embrace of sleep
I urge you to take me.
Whisk me away
to sub-conscious adventures
in the land of Nod.
In the land of dreams.
